Guides for this tool

What this tool shows

Photos carry information that is not visible in the picture: when it was taken, which device took it, sometimes the device’s serial number, often the exact GPS position — and, for images made with AI tools, a declaration saying so. This tool reads all of it and marks what could identify you or a place.

AI declarations and Content Credentials

Generators that label their output write an IPTC “digital source type” field, and some sign a C2PA manifest — Content Credentials — recording how the image was created and edited. Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI often store the prompt itself in a PNG text field. The tool detects all three.

What “remove” does

The clean copy is the same image, byte for byte. Metadata blocks are cut out of the file; nothing is re-encoded, so there is no loss of quality. Only the orientation is kept, so a portrait photo is not displayed sideways.

Privacy

Everything happens in your browser. The photo is read from your device, processed in memory and offered back as a download. It is never uploaded, and this site is configured so that the page cannot send data to any other server.
